Getting married is wonderful event and one of the most important days in your life, but it comes with a long process of finding the perfect dress, venue, flowers, etc. Some people do not realize that finding their dream dress requires more than just a few months. Being professional Stylists at Venus Bridal Collection in Ellicott City, Maryland, we have come to find out that no one is letting these brides know that they need a MINIMUM of six months to get the dress in, this doesn't even include the time needed for alterations and the time frame for alterations usually run from 3-4 months. I know this sounds unreal, but believe it or not, these designers take up to six months to design and manufacture the bridal gowns. If you plan to change up certain parts of a gown and want it custom made, you should probably give it an addition two months including the basic 6 months.
If you want an easy and smooth process from ordering and receiving your gown, we strongly recommend ordering a year in advance, if you have enough time. Also, most shops or boutiques will require an appointment to try on dresses, so calling ahead is always a good idea to make sure that you will be getting their undivided attention and your own fitting room.
We have had many customers who plan a wedding in under six months, designers require a rush or super rush option which has an additional fee (price varies by each designers).
